Drushyam: Explore the Magic behind of Artificial Intelligence

“What is so complicated about AI?”

AK continued his question, “Simply, tell me what is AI?”.

AK and GK are childhood friends and they parted ways right after schooling. AK took over his family business from his father in his village and GK settled in the software industry in a metro city. When they meet, it is very usual for AK to ask GK about trends.

While offering coffee, AK said, “There is a lot of buzz about it, just wanted to know what it is and how it works.”

GK: “AI is the imitation of human intelligence in machines, enabling them to perform tasks that typically require human thinking. It works by using algorithms and data to learn from experience, recognize patterns, and make decisions without explicit programming.”

AK: “Hold on! See. You are adding more buzz words and confusing me. Just tell me in simple form, I don’t want to hear too technical stuff.”

This time GK wanted to keep it short and sweet and address this without complicating it. AK loves watching movies.

GK took a minute “Certainly! I’d be happy to help you.”

and asked him, “Have you watched Drushyam movie?” (Drishyam in Hindi)

AK: “Yes”

GK: “What did you understand from that movie?”

AK: “Hero covered up the murder very intelligently”

GK: “Why police could not find that easily?”

AK: “Hero created pieces of evidence artificially.”

GK: “Then?”

AK: “Hero went back to those specific witnesses and influenced their memory about instances & dates.”

GK: “Call it feeding or training. Hero was feeding data into their brains artificially.”

AK: “Ok?”

GK: “So, when police asked questions (call it as prompting), those witnesses responded how Hero expected them to do so. Isn’t it?”

AK: “Yes?”

GK: “Similarly, the AI tool will be trained by feeding data. It learns, applies algorithm and is expected to respond to the user prompts accordingly.”

“Keep in mind, it is not just some buzz. It is very powerful and is going to create disruption in many industries.”

AK: “What if the wrong data is fed?”

GK: “Very right question. What is fed is not necessarily correct/perfect always. If the wrong is fed, then the tool results same. It is left to the discretion of the retriever.” “You reap what you sow”.

GK: “One last thing, It’s important to note that the effectiveness of my answers depends on the information I gained from the internet and how I understood by using it. It is always recommended to perform individual research before concluding.”

AK: “Why do you say like that?” with a confused look.

GK: “Sorry, out of habit.” “I am also using ChatGPT!”

AK: “Thanks, man. I guess I understand what it is.”

GK: “You’re welcome! I’m glad I could help. If you have any more questions in the future, feel free to ask. Good luck with your endeavours!”
