Coffeetime Story

Stories from heart, that matters most!

Certain things wouldn’t change – Isn’t it! A Father story about education loans!

Year – 199x!

AK stepped out of his colleague’s house.

Looked at his son, who was standing outside the house the entire time, and smiled weakly. Collecting all the energy left with him, tried covering his worry and told his son, “Let us go and meet another uncle”.

Although it was very visible, the son started the moped pretending he didn’t know what was the outcome of that discussion.

AK is running out of options. It’s already late, he was supposed to send a Money Order to his other kid’s engineering college annual fees & expenses, who is studying in another location. As a government employee, he gets limited income, no properties, and financial aid.

Before reaching another friend, AK mentally prepared again what to say, and how to give confidence to his friend that he can repay within time.

Told his son, “Wait here sometime.” and stepped into his friend’s house.

This time, he came out with relief and smiled at his son by pointing to the handbag with cash. At last, he could convince his friend with interest, although it is a bit higher this time.

Once back to home, he told his wife, “Don’t worry. It’s done. Just one more loan”.

Year – 202x!

GK double-checked all his bank accounts, but couldn’t find sufficient funds to pay term fees for school & transportation for both of his kids. He couldn’t even think about credit cards, as anyways full.

Before calling his friend, he scanned the payment page of the school website one more time. Found a new payment option that wasn’t there last year – a service that is offering easy EMI.

Took a couple of minutes for him to get insights from customer support. In a jiffy, he filled in all the details. He knows, with his credit score he gets approval from the service provider for sure. He leaned back with relief and sipped coffee.

Looking at his wife, he said “Don’t worry. It’s done. Just one more EMI”.

199x or 202x. Generations change, technology evolves, ease of doing things increases – yet education is still expensive. What say you?
